Composite doors have started to gain traction for many reasons, mainly because they offer something completely different contrasting it to UPVC and timber counterparts. Listed below are the pros and cons of owning a composite door.
Pros – Security – There is nothing stronger than a composite door. There is considerable thickness to the door frame, so if anyone did try to force it open when its locked then they are likely to do themselves some damage.
Aesthetics – It has a similar appearance to timber frames so people often confuse the two, as composite is partly manufactured from wood and that is why you can see the same patterns a timber door would usually exhibit.
Maintenance- free – A composite door requires far less attention than a timber frame, in fact you barely have to do anything to preserve it. You will only occasionally have to wipe it down with warm soapy water.
Cons – Cost – Although a composite door can be higher priced than say a UPVC door, it will more than likely actually turn out saving you money in the future in terms of energy costs.
