What is alu-clad or alu-timber
Also known as hybrid windows, alu-clad, as the name suggests, is aluminium that is cladding or covering the outside of the window. Inside is usually fine quality engineered timber such as Scandinavian pine, Meranti and other fine woods.
How do you provide your alu-clad windows and doors?
All our windows are provided fully fabricated, glazed and ready to fit. Doors and also provided fully glazed and ready to install, transport sizes permitting.
Are alu-clad windows better than timber?
All modern window systems in any material are built to established standards for quality, conformity, material type, colours and glass, tested for security and weather protection, and providing good U-Values. Timber windows today are high-performance products, but should you damage the surface coating, it is advisable to carry out a prompt repair. Alu-clad windows use low-maintenance aluminium outside so you benefit from the low-maintenance properties of aluminium, with the quality, warmth and insulation provided by solid wood inside.
Do alu-clad windows cost more than aluminium?
The price of windows and doors generally depends on many factors. Size, design, colour, glass and handle specifications, and even the location of the installation can all affect the price. Contact us for a quotation specific to your requirements.
Which window material lasts the longest?
The lifespan of any window depends on its location, intensity of use and whether it is in a residential or commercial building. Generally speaking, PVCu has the shortest lifespan, followed by aluminium, closely followed by alu-clad and steel windows, usually marketed as those with the longest possible lifespan. Aluminium has a lifespan of around 30+ years, and alu-clad systems companies claim a lifespan of around sixty years.
