French Door vs Aluminium Sliding

Choosing the right door to fulfil its intended purpose is not an easy decision. You may go for a Sliding or French door in your office space to make it look more professional. Or, you may be looking for more light to flood your home.

Whatever your choice may be, let’s have a look at the differences between French and Sliding Doors…

French Doors

  • They open from the centre – like any other door you might find in homes or offices. The frames are on swinging hinges allowing you to open and close in a back-and-forth motion.
  • Their design is more classic than contemporary, so it would suit a more traditional architectural style.
  • You can open one or both doors.
  • They have a thicker frame.

Aluminium Sliding Doors

  • Made from larger glass panes, they open and close by sliding left or right.
  • Neater choice, as the glass slides behind itself instead of sticking out.
  • Safer choice for the elderly and vulnerable; no hinges to get your fingers trapped in. It won’t slam, as you have to physically slide it.
  • Thinner frame and more glass on show. Allow plenty of light to flood the room.
  • More contemporary; they would suit any modern aesthetic.
